Microsoft Corp. has introduced a surface computer that is able to recognize physical objects from fingerprints to cell phones which allows hands-on, direct control of content such as music, photos and maps. The Surface Computer turns any ordinary tabletop into a dynamic surface that provides interaction with almost every form of digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects.

The Surface Computer is aimed directly at retail establishments, hotels and restaurants and public entertainment venues. The product should be available towards the end of the year.
